A number of you have probably heard of shirataki noodles and the benefits/values they can provide for many of today's diet plans.

Let's start with the origin of shirataki noodles. As you may have already guessed, the word "Shirataki" is of the Japanese language and it translates to, "White waterfall" which refers to the appearance of the noodles.
Although shirataki noodles originate from Japan, the plant which it is made of, Amorphophallus Konjac, or more commonly known as Konjac, is native to China.
Much of East Asia has been using Konjac for centuries and is well known throughout for its nutritional values and health benefits, including high fiber content, and containing almost ZERO calories.
The corm, or root, of the Konjac, is what is harvested from the plant to then be used to make Konjac flour, one of the three ingredients used to make traditional shirataki noodles.
The other two ingredients being water and calcium additive (Lime), which is used to help keep the fiber in the noodle together.
Some shirataki companies have added ingredients, such as tofu or soy but the base of their recipes lies within those 3 main ingredients.
Shirataki can provide a lot of potential value/benefits for many of today's diets. Low in carbs, calories, as well as being gluten-free, is just a few of the many reasons why it has been so commonly implemented in many of the diets of there today.
As previously mentioned, shirataki noodles also contain fiber (glucomannan). Glucomannan is a water-soluble dietary fiber, extracted from the roots of the konjac plant.
It has gained considerable attention in the weight-loss community as it takes up space in your stomach and promotes the feeling of being full (satiety), reducing food intake at a subsequent meal.
It's been seen as a useful tool that has become helpful for the weight-loss community as it has also been for constipation, diabetes, high cholesterol, and high blood pressure.
